Crafty read at ChristmasJanuary 1, 2009 Received this book for Christmas and raced through it in just over a day and a half. I remember going to see Brissy against Lowey in the 1981 Embassy at Jollees in Stoke and we all were rooting for Lowe. We all disliked the arrogance of Bristow, but here in these pages you come to like to the guy. From his early scrapes with the law, to his incredible rise to the top, trying to win as many titles as his snooker friend Steve Davis. The his fall from grace due to his dartitis and sponsoring of Phil Taylor. I've read a lot of darts books, but this is easy on the mind and quick to get through without trying to paint any false pictures. Well put together Eric, see you on the Legends of the Oche tour at Tamworth in February 2009.
Double Top!December 18, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic read and a great behind the scenes insight into the crazy world of darts. Bristow is a genius story-teller whose anecdotes are peppered with wit and hilarity. The stories involving legends of darts such as Jocky Wilson, Cliff Lazarenko and Keith Deller have to be read to be believed. From the moment I picked it up I couldn't put it down. It was a thrilling read and Bristow really has had a rollercoaster ride of a life. I can thoroughly recommend this to every fan of darts and even those not familiar with the sport will find the stories and tales quite absorbing. What a great book.
