One for the nerds, perhapsApril 22, 2008 I'm only a beginner, but I found this book extremely useful, being told why things worked - or didn't - rather than just being told what to do or not. As well as an overview of the mechanics of body and equipment, the book gives some really good practical advice I haven't seen elsewhere - always explaining exactly why, of course. If you too are the kind of person who ALWAYS reads the manual, this is for you.

The other two reviewers have indicated that this is not for the beginner. True you could not teach yourself to shoot by reading it; but it is never too soon to begin to understand what is going on "underneath" when you are drawing a bow and I think it would be an inavaluable addition to any thinking archer's library.

great for veterns, chaos for the beginnerDecember 1, 1997 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
This book is the most comprehensive scientific study of archery that I have ever had the pleasure to read. It addresses both the physiology of shooting and the math and physics of how a bow works. If your are just getting started in archery, however, you are better of taking in some more basic material before you tackle this bible of archery jargon.
