I am new to origami. Before this I could only do the usual boat or plane. This is a perfect introduction to the many aspects of origami. Contains a brief introduction to folding, and then starts with thematic chapters: classical origami, animals, party, geometrical, practical, etc. The book has good photos, which describe each step clearly. Thus it is instructive and entertaining, you want to learn more about origami. I find the last chapter (modular and geometric origami) particularly inspiring, even if I haven't dared to give it a try. I find it perfect for anybody who wants to start origaming right away. I would buy it again, without doubt!

This is probably one of the best introductory books on origami. It is printed on good quality paper and has beautiful photography. It explained the various techniques very clearly and guides you step by step in your discovery of this amazing art form. Buy and give it a try!

excellent first bookSeptember 27, 2004 49 out of 49 found this review helpful
This was recommended from an origami enthusiast (who has many origami books)I found on the web. His recommendation was spot-on as an excellent book to start origami which is above child level but not to advanced standard. It is very well presented with good quality colour photographs and has a variety of subjects. I particularly like the little lidded boxes you can fold; very simple and effective. The explanations are provided through photographs not drawings, so following them is fairly easy once you've orientated your paper to look like the photograph. A great starter book.
